Samsung has officially launched its latest foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z7 series, alongside the Galaxy Watch8 series in South Africa. The new devices bring advancements in design, performance and health tracking, marking another step forward in the brand’s vision for connected, AI-powered experiences.
The New Galaxy Z7 Series
The Galaxy Z Fold7 is positioned as the most advanced foldable in Samsung’s lineup, offering a thinner and lighter design than its predecessors. It features a large immersive display for multitasking, gaming, streaming and creative work. The phone also integrates AI tools tailored for the foldable format, allowing users to interact more intuitively across apps. The camera system includes a 200MP high-resolution lens with advanced editing features such as Generative Edit, which can identify and remove background elements automatically.
The Galaxy Z Flip7 focuses on portability and style, with its compact foldable design and edge-to-edge FlexWindow that provides quick access to notifications and key features without opening the device. It introduces Now Bar for at-a-glance updates such as music playback, fitness tracking and travel alerts. Creative options are enhanced with features like Portrait Studio for pets and Camera Sharing with Gemini Live, enabling real-time interaction through the camera.
For those looking for a more accessible option, the Galaxy Z Flip7 FE offers the foldable experience at a lower price point. It includes a 6.7-inch main display, a 50MP FlexCam for hands-free selfies and video capture, and a simplified cover screen that provides essential updates like weather and schedules.
Galaxy Watch8 Series
Alongside the smartphones, Samsung has released the Galaxy Watch8 and Galaxy Watch8 Classic. Both models feature a redesigned, ultra-thin cushion structure with a Dynamic Lug system for improved comfort and fit. They are powered by Samsung’s BioActive Sensor, which supports real-time tracking across sleep, stress, activity and nutrition.
A notable addition is the Antioxidant Index, a first for smartwatches, which measures carotenoid levels in five seconds to help users make more informed health and lifestyle decisions. The Galaxy Watch8 series blends wellness features with AI-powered insights, aiming to turn everyday tracking into actionable guidance.
