GoTrendSA: So, Michael! tell us a little bit more about yourself?
Michael:I’m Michael Graham George Constantinides, but I go by the name of Michael Cost. The abbreviated name comes from my grandfather who called himself that so that the Afrikaaners could say his name when he immigrated to South Africa.
I recently turned 21 and before that graduated my Bachelors of Architectural Studies from Wits and started my own company. Due to the fact that I have a very environmental background, together with my creativity, I started my own eco-friendly accessories company during my studies. I am also a Youtuber.
GoTrendSA: What gave you the idea to start a YouTube Channel?
Michael: I always wanted to start a youtube channel but didn’t have a camera so decided to use my built-in mic to record covers of ‘ Rack City Bitch’ and ‘Baby’s on Fire’. As soon as I came to my senses, I deleted those horrible covers and didn’t make videos for a year until I found out about Caspar Lee. He is the most famous SA youtuber, who became famous in the year I didn’t make videos. Inspired by his success as well as the idea that that could have been me, I started making videos. It took a while for me to get into the swing of things, however, now, I love making videos every week.
GoTrendSA: In terms of content, what do you find gets the most interest?
Michael: My channel is a mix and match of different types of videos and I therefore have had many different feedbacks from viewers. People love comedy and covers generally on Youtube but I have found that Comedy and Strange videos that are unique to my humor, people love. Also the fact that I am based in Johannesburg helps people to relate more to the video.
GoTrendSA: We’ve seen that you’ve launched a jewellery range at Big Blue stores, tell us more?
Michael: YES, I’m so excited. I sell earrings and brooches at most Big Blue Stores around the country and online. I like to make item that are unusual and are for both men and women. All these designs are eco-friendly, hand-assembled by me and are South African inspired. So you should go to a Big blue and support my madness.
GoTrendSA: What other projects are you involved with, besides YouTube?
Michael: I started the first Generation Earth council at Wits University. Generation Earth is a global organization that aims to empower the youth and educate them about the environment and issues we are faced with as the youth in the environment. I am still very much involved in the organisation today.
GoTrendSA: What’s the craziest video you’ve ever done?

GoTrendSA: What advice would you give to any aspiring YouTubers?
Michael: Keep pushing. Youtubing is not easy and most of us don’t get the rewards we deserve but make videos because you want to and not because you want to be famous.
GoTrendSA: What do you do in your spare time for fun?
Michael: I make jewellery, make youtube videos or sleep. SLEEP IS FUN!!!!
GoTrendSA: So, whats the future looking like for you?
Michael: TOO BIG. I set high goals for myself and I don’t rest until I achieve them. I have plans that will shock people who know me. The future is bright because I work hard to make it that way.
