Screen Shot 2015-07-01 at 0.20.11School holidays are around the corner and this exhibition is the perfect activity to keep the entire family entertained! The world renowned LEGO® art exhibit, The Art of The Brick, is currently on display at The Zone @ Rosebank until 2 August. ExpoRSA, specialists in global travelling exhibitions has brought the highly acclaimed exhibition for South African audiences to enjoy.

Families, kids, adults, LEGO® and art-lovers are treated to over 75 original LEGO® artworks on display created from more than one million LEGO® bricks by US artist, Nathan Sawaya. An interactive LEGO play zone area complete with LEGO building tables concludes the exhibit and aims to encouarge visitors to build their own art masterpieces drawing inspiration from their experience at the exhibition.

Hailed as ‘one of the world’s 10 must-see exhibitions by CNN’, The Art of The Brick aims to inspire visitors through using this unique art form and in doing so has attracted millions of visitors worldwide in exhibitions across the US, Europe, Australia, Asia and now for the first time in South Africa.

Artworks include Saways’s most famous work to date, Yellow, also featured in Lady Gaga’s ‘Pop Art’ music video, as well as other sculptures such as the remarkable T-Rex skeleton constructed from over 80,000 LEGO® bricks and measuring over six metres in length. In addition to this, visitors can see some of the world’s most famous artworks recreated with LEGO® such as Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, Van Gogh’s Starry Night and the Venus de Milo.

“This country is one of the most amazing places I have been to on my travels and I am thrilled to have The Art of the Brick come to South Africa,” says Nathan Sawaya. “Art and LEGO® transcend culture and language and speak to adult and kids’ curiosity and creative aspirations. I hope that visitors will draw inspiration and experiment with a variety of art forms.”

Local and national sponsors of the exhibition are transport partner Gautrain, accommodation partner Protea Hotel Wanderers and the interactive LEGO® play zone area is sponsored by PlayStation and Ster-Kinekor Entertainment.
