Earlier this year, I was fortunate enough to travel to South Korea to see what LG Electronics has been working on for 2015.

LG Electronics (LG) is showing off its latest range of refrigerator models equipped with the revolutionary Dual Door-in-DoorTM feature and the Inverter Linear Compressor. Designed with the consumer in mind, LG’s refrigerators bring energy efficiency and convenience to a whole new level.
Cutting-edge Dual Door-in-DoorTM
LG’s new four door refrigerator has two independent Door-in-DoorTM compartments, giving you the ultimate in convenience — better organization and easy access — while maximizing conservation of cold air. The right Door-in-DoorTM is accessible from the outside with a simple push of a button and is also accessible from the inside, making it easy to load with often-used items like snacks, drinks, lunches and more. The left Door- in-DoorTM provides additional easy access storage space via a trigger on the bottom of the door. This new model is expected to be ENERGY STAR® certified. By utilizing LG’s innovative Door-in-DoorTM feature without opening the entire refrigerator, cold air loss is reduced by up to 47.3 percent and food stays fresher for longer.1
Inverter Linear Compressor for Greater Energy Savings and Low Noise Level
By generating less internal friction and offering more precise cooling control, LG’s proprietary Inverter Linear Compressor helps ensure lower energy consumption and lower noise levels. LG’s refrigerator equipped with the Inverter Linear Compressor has been tested to save more energy by up to 32 percent than one equipped with a conventional compressor.2
Further to this, thanks to lower friction points and its simple mechanism, noise levels are reduced by up to 25 percent and durability is improved.3 LG expects consumers to be particularly interested in the company’s efficiency achievements given the recent surge in electricity prices across the continent. The 10- year warranty on the Inverter Linear Compressor is also compelling.
Intelligent Air Management to Keep Foods Fresher
LG’s new generation Hygiene Fresh+TM air purification system utilizes multi-layer filters and an exclusive fan to help remove bacteria, virus, spores and odors from the fridge’s interior. This system uses a highly effective 5-step process which includes UV LED, eliminating 99.999 percent of harmful bacteria commonly found inside refrigerators. Moreover, the new upgraded Hygiene Fresh+TM offers even more convenience, as users do not need to change or replace any filters. LG’s Hygiene Fresh+TM technology has been tested by Intertek, a worldwide product safety and quality assurance testing body.
Outstanding Design, Ideal for Any Kitchen Environment
Expertly crafted, the new four door refrigerator also features contour processed, tempered glass that has been applied over curved glass. Black patterned finishing provides a stylish design that is both aesthetically pleasing and leaves the outside fingerprint and smudge resistant so it always looks its best. The refrigerator is also equipped with Adjustable Moving Baskets which allow users to adjust the height of the internal compartments to accommodate large or odd-shaped bottles.
