Having trouble tracking down the flu vaccine? Dis-Chem advises that the 2015 flu vaccine is currently still available at their Clinics nationwide.
The late release of the vaccine was due to circumstances beyond their control. Since flu viruses are known to mutate, the flu vaccine is revised every year to comply with World Health Organisation recommendations and the delay was due to the later than usual announcement of new strains that needed to be included. Inevitably, this resulted in a setback in manufacturing.
The 2015 flu vaccine includes protection from:
- A/California/7/2009 (H1N1) pdm09-like virus
- A/Switzerland/9715293/2013 (H3N2)-like virus (new strain)
- B/Phuket/3073/2013-like virus (new strain)
Flu vaccines are recommended for everyone. The vaccine protects against some of the most virulent strains of flu and it goes a long way to helping families weather the nastier rigours of winter. Most medical practitioners will advise that you do what you can to protect yourself as flu can lead to potentially serious secondary infections such as bronchitis and pneumonia.
Please come in SOON to the nearest Dis-Chem Clinic to get yourself and your family immunised, it may save you costly medical bills and protracted time off work should you develop flu and the associated complications during winter 2015.
