Huawei Goes Wild in Munich: WATCH GT 7 Series Leads the Charge.

Huawei took over Munich today for its Chase the Wild global launch, and it came loaded. The company rolled out a full spread of new gear across wearables, tablets, smartphones and audio, all built around the idea of tech that pushes you to get outdoors, document the adventure and create along the way. The headliner, though, was firmly on the wrist.

HUAWEI WATCH GT 7 Series

The WATCH GT 7 Series is the star of the show, and it is a proper overhaul of Huawei’s sports smartwatch line across design, outdoor capabilities, health tracking and battery life. It ships with a new EasyCross strap and comes in two flavours: the standard GT 7 in 46mm and 41mm sizes, and the beefier GT 7 Pro, which adds a nano-tech ceramic bezel and a titanium alloy middle frame for extra durability.

For the sporty crowd, Huawei is touting a couple of industry firsts here: wrist-based turn detection and G-Force detection. Cyclists get the most love, with route planning for climbs, slope alerts and sharp-turn warnings, plus AI-powered cycling insights arriving through a later software update. On the health side, upgraded Health Insights brings a new Physical Readiness score and smarter analysis, so the wellness advice you get is clearer and more actionable.

Best of all for local readers, you will not have to wait long. The WATCH GT 7 Series lands in South Africa from the Huawei Online Store as early as 3 September, with retailers following from 7 September.

The rest of the wrist lineup

Huawei also brought back the WATCH 6 Series after a year away, an all-rounder that handles independent calling, navigation and payments, wrapped around a fuller health suite spanning Health Glance, Health Insights and Healthy Living. Alongside it came the WATCH D3, a next-generation blood pressure monitor that can take readings before and after exercise and nudge you with smart measurement reminders. There is no local date on the D3 yet, so keep an eye on Huawei’s channels for the SA launch.

Tablets, audio and a new phone

Beyond the watches, the HUAWEI MatePad Pro 12-inch made its case as a creative flagship: just 4.7mm thick and 454 grams, with a 12-inch flexible OLED PaperMatte display and a stack of AI tools including speech-to-text conversion, handwriting enhancement and stylus air gestures. On audio, the new FreeBuds Neo Series arrives with a fresh design and immersive sound, while the nova 16s series debuts with a strong lean toward portrait photography. Huawei also threw open its global GoPaint art contest, this year adding a new Easy Creation category to pull in more casual creators.

The WATCH GT 7 Series is clearly the one to watch, and the fact that it reaches Mzansi within days of the Munich reveal is a welcome change of pace. The wrist-based turn and G-Force detection, along with the cycling smarts, could make it a genuine contender for local outdoor and fitness fans.
