A first for the station and the city, 94.7 Highveld Stereo in partnership with MTN, proudly hosted the most attended one day music festival at this year’s Joburg Day!

Ushering in the warmer weather, concert revelers started queuing early in the day to grab a prime spot at the events new venue, Crocodile Creek Polo Club, Lanseria on Saturday, 14 September, 2013. Setting the scene, all tickets were sold out well before this popular music festival. The artists of the day had never had the opportunity to perform on one stage before, and Joburgers lapped up their outstanding acts on this second to none platform.

Holding out no stops, the day was filled with the best in music and entertainment, on a local and international level. Kicking off the gorgeous day, Connell Cruise wowed the crowds with his home grown talent and acoustic style.

Jack Parow certainly held out no stops during his performance, and had the audience screaming for more hits. The energy and vibe of his act set the pace of the day. Rocking the masses with their ‘She Always Gets What She Wants,’ hit single to name a few, crowd favourite Prime Circle left revelers in awe.

International sensation The Parlotones remained true to form during their Joburg Day set, as they proved that their wide range of rock influences ultimately culminate the unique Parlotones sound that South Africans have come to appreciate and love. The addition of a local choir for the “Stand with Giants” track, had the excited crowd singing along.

Electronica phenomenon, GoldFish had the thousands of enthusiasts on their feet as old favourites ‘This Is How It Goes,’ and ‘Get Busy Living’ echoed against the backdrop of the perfect Jozi moonlit night. Their successful integration of dance music with jazz and African music elements have certainly fared this talented duo well in their journey of tapping to the pulse of music fusion!

“This once again signal MTN’s unwavering commitment to South African music industry by supporting Joburg Day. We’re glad that 25 000 music revellers enjoyed the biggest Joburg Day so far powered by MTN,” said Ryan Gould, MTN’s General Manager in Brand and Communications.

Trending early in the day on social platforms, Joburg Day 2013 was streamed live on SkyRoom Live. Thousands of local and international fans tuned in as the each act took the stage. Die Heuwels Fantasties proved to have over 40 000 fans streaming in from Los Angeles alone.

Multi award winning duo Liquideep, captured the audience with their deep house rendition of “Fairytale” as well as new tracks off their latest album, “Welcome Abroad.” Ending off the day, electro pop music duo, the LCNVL twins had the crowd dancing to the beat of tracks like “6 second poison” and “Desperado.”
