Be more active with Samsung and Discovery Vitality
Fitness bands and apps have become all the rage in recent years.
In their aim to encourage S6 and S6 Edge owners to be more active, Samsung have partnered with Discovery Vitality to reward you for living healthier, more active lifestyle.
The partnership between the two businesses will see Vitality points being offered to Discovery Vitality members for physical activities tracked through Samsung’s new S Health 4.0 app. The S Health app, teamed with Samsung’s powerful, elegant and connected Gear devices, provides consumers with the full Samsung health solution. Combined with the S Health app, the Gear S is the perfect personal fitness monitor allowing users to track runs and stay motivated while on the move. With its built-in heart rate sensor, the Gear Fit gives real time coaching to actively support and motivate consumers to achieve fitness goals. The latest version of S Health will be available from June 2015 on Samsung’s latest flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge and on other Samsung devices in the near future.
As two of the largest companies in their respective fields, Samsung and Discovery are the perfect partners in the health space. This partnership encourages consumers to live well by integrating Samsung’s S Health app with Discovery’s Vitality programme to reward users with Vitality points for being active every day.
Discovery Vitality – South Africa’s leading wellness programme with over 7 million members globally – provides an incentive-based system whereby members earn Vitality points for a variety of health-related behaviours such as exercising, buying healthy food and having health check-ups. With the S Health app users can better track and understand their wellness by capturing this information; Vitality members are then rewarded for a healthy lifestyle through discounts on flights, hotel accommodation, movies and shopping.
“We are continuously looking for ways to improve quality of life through the delivery of innovative solutions,” said Craige Fleischer, Director of Integrated Mobility at Samsung Electronics South Africa. “The best thing about this partnership is that through our S Health app, users are rewarded not just for participating in exercise regimes such as going to the gym, but also for being active through everyday activities such as walking the dog and taking the stairs – all of which will help to accumulate Vitality points.”
With the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, S Health makes every step an automatically rewarded exercise. To start earning Vitality Points, all users need to do is download the Discovery app and link it to their S Health app. Activity data is then automatically updated to their Vitality account and Vitality points will start to be earned.

Together, Samsung and Discovery Vitality are changing the face of health and wellness by encouraging consumers to live a healthy lifestyle. With Vitality points it has not only become easier for consumers to track their health, it has also become more rewarding.

Between 7,500 and 9,999 steps a day earns 100 Vitality points;

The More Vitality Points, the Better the Rewards
The more active a Vitality member is, the more points they earn and so their Vitality status increases from Blue all the way to Gold. While great rewards are available on Blue status, the rewards get even better on Gold.
