BRUICHLADDICH ARTISAN SHOWCASE & WHISKY EXPERIENCES

Over the last few months Bruichladdich has been partnering with small businesses around Cape Town and Johannesburg for a number of artisan showcases and whisky experiences.

Ever tasting is different, with each partner bringing their own flair to the experience. The tasting sessions are small intimate gatherings of about 25 to 30 people per event, who are taken Bruichladdich’s selection of unpeated and peated single malts.

The conversation is led in a casual and interactive way, encouraging guest to get involved and ask questions. The evenings are hosted by two of South Africa’s best bartenders. Devin Cross, head bartender and spirits specialist at The House of Machines in Cape Town and Dominic Walsh, owner of The March Hare in Johannesburg.

The philosophy of Bruichladdich is summed up in one statement:

“We believe that Islay whisky should have an authenticity derived from where it is distilled and where it is matured: from the philosophies of those who distil it. A sense of terroir that speaks of the land, the barley and water from which it was made, and of the human soul that gave it life”

Bruichladdich carefully selected their artisan partners on one simple common belief that “Terroir Matters”. These are businesses that believe in authenticity, people and relationships. They believe in challenging convention and that the soul of the artisan matters.

More about Bruichladdich

Bruichladdich offer a selection of unpeated and peated single malts which are as pleasing when shared with friends or enjoyed in a quiet moment at home.

With a focus on ingredients only 100% Scottish grown barley, Bruichladdich is trickle distilled 0through tall, elegant stills and matured for all of its life in warehouses on Islay’s Atlantic coast.

Chosen by hand, eye and taste rather than a process or formula, every drop is hand crafted by a team of artisans. The only major distiller to bottle spirit on the island itself, Bruichladdich never add colour or chill filter, retaining the vital natural oils which give the spirit its complex flavor profile and unctuous mouth feel.

Revolutionary when it was built in 1881, the Bruichladdich distillery was created by the Harvey Brothers – enthusiastic and entrepreneurial young members of a Glasgow whisky dynasty – with the aim of producing the purest, lightest, most floral spirit possible.

With a reputation for producing cult single malts that challenge the malt convention, Bruichladdich produce three different brands – Bruichladdich – always unpeated; Port Charlotte – heavily peated; and Octomore – the most heavily peated spirit in the world.
